Our office hours are by appointment. While this system is essential, we realize that patients do not become ill on schedule, operations can take longer than anticipated, and emergencies do occur. Regrettably, delays do arise. A sincere attempt is made to adhere to the appointment schedule. I firmly believe in the value of your time and try hard to minimize long waiting periods in the office. I apologize in advance for any inconvenience.

It is helpful if you give us ample notice of your intention to visit. This will enable us to give you an appointment most convenient for you. If you cannot keep an appointment, please try to give us at least 24 hours' notice. If you don't notify us, another patient will be deprived of an opportunity to use your appointment time.

Emergency or seriously ill patients will be seen as soon as they arrive at the office. This may necessitate an interruption in our schedule. When it happens, you will be advised. We believe that patients will understand and find reassurance in knowing that they would receive the same attention in a similar situation.
Our receptionist or a technician will receive all calls. They have been trained to answer most questions and instructed not to interrupt me during examinations and treatments. If they require my opinion to answer your question, you will be advised to expect a return phone call at a definite time. In general, one of my staff will return your call after consulting with me.
Please realize that it is difficult, if not impossible, to diagnose and treat over the phone. Requests for treatment will ordinarily require an office examination to properly evaluate your condition. Likewise, medication cannot be prescribed for a problem not previously evaluated.
Once a medication routine has been established, our office will accommodate your pharmacist for renewal authorizations during regular office hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.
If you have an emergency after hours, your call will be received by an answering service. They know how to get in touch with me in case of an emergency. If I am out of town or unavailable, they will know which physician is covering for me. If at any time you have any difficulty with the answering service, please let me know.
House calls are not made, as it is impossible to perform an adequate examination in your home.
Most laboratory and X-ray studies will be referred to your primary care physician, a pathologist, radiologist, or hospital. You will be charged by them for this service.
Smoking is prohibited in our office. Smoke is irritating to the eyes, especially for those patients who are ill or have recently had surgery.
Statements and billing costs have become very expensive. The cost of producing and mailing a bill is about $4.50. Ultimately these costs must be reflected in our fees. To keep these costs down, we request that you pay for office visits and treatments at the time of service. I sincerely believe that my fees are equitable for the services delivered. We are happy to discuss charges with you and give you an estimate of charges when procedures and treatments are recommended. When surgery is needed, my staff will help you set up a payment plan to fit your budget.
We will be glad to help you file your insurance. The obligation for payment of services, however, is your responsibility. Unless prior arrangements have been made, payment is expected at the time of your visit. This also applies to deductibles and copayment.
Any financial benefits that you receive from any insurance company or government agency is strictly a matter of settlement between you and them. Any monies collected by us from third parties, on your behalf, will be applied to your account balance.
